Greyhound Selections Monday 11 Jan

There’s only 8 races at Palmerston North today and once we eliminate the C0 races which are often lotteries and the small fields, there’s only a couple of races to look at.  Forbury Park is a tricky course to punt at as there aren’t even sectionals off the front (is anyone from GRNZ reading this?) and the infrequent racing there makes it a challenge to line up the form.

Best Bet M3 R8 Oakmont (1)

Oakmont looks well placed in this.  He’s only seen the red rug once in his career and railed like, um, a greyhound.  He did move out a fraction in the home straight but showed great awareness of the rail throughout to win comfortably.  He’s won 5 from 10 at Forbury so we know he likes the track.  The dog in box 2 stays away from the rail which should help.

Value Bet M9 R2 Bees and Birds (7)

I must admit I can’t catch Big time Fuzz these days – she was good to us in her early days and while she doesn’t win in top times, she seems to win.  She’s up against a very even C4/5 field today and there’s a couple here that should be competitive.  I like Bees and Birds for some value.  The draw should really help – he’s wide runner who loves box 8.  There’s a vacant box today in 8 while Zamah is impossible to predict but often blows the start.  Either way, Bees and Birds should get some clear air out where he likes it and any trouble on his inside will obviously help.
