I’ve spent time last night and again this morning going through the fields at Palmerston North and as Neil says, it looks like a bookies benefit.

There’s only one runner I like at Palmerston North but at nice each way money.

M3 R5 Double That (7)

Based on the ratings, Double That is way overs.  He’s top rated, he’s placed all three starts from box 7 and he’s the only dog to have won more than one race T&D (admittedly the rest have had a lot less runs).  He has two of the top four opening sectionals in the last 30 days and the top 2 closing sectionals.  To be fair, the favourite, Tekki Jim, has only raced once here and that was a winning effort back in early September and only Double That has run faster in their career.  Tekki Jim hasn’t shown a lot since that win and does get back.  Regardless, I think the money offered on Double That is worth a little investment at a really nice price.

It’s taken me all year to get used to free ratings on Tuesday and this week it’s free ratings Wednesday.

A different day for us – 9 races at PN which is very much the entree while the premier meeting is definitely the Addington meeting in the evening featuring the semis for the NZ Cup and the Galaxy sprint.  Doesn’t look like there will be any promotions tomorrow.  TAB must have spent the promo budget on the Melbourne Cup!

I’ll post an update around 11 am with any bets at Palmerston although I may keep the powder dry for Addington.
