Review of the selections from yesterday.  Another small loss and another frustrating day but we have a couple of high class meets at Addington later this week to make it up.

Addington

Let’s start with the worst.  Crystal Candy (R10) almost halved from her opening price but it doesn’t matter what they are paying if they run like that.  What was most disappointing was that the opening sectionals weren’t that flash.  Candy just got in the wrong place and really didn’t look a chance. Tweet About It lead all the way but the opening split of 5.91 was nearly 5 lengths slower than the best on (Marakesh Max ran a slick 5.63).  However, Tweet About It really gave them no chance running the second best closing sectional on the day.

There was only one 520m race and Goldstar Spook (R4) looked a strong bet but only just managed to get up.  So hard to compare the sectionals with one race but on the surface, the race rated a couple of lengths slower than the middle distance races at the same meeting last week.  You would think Spook would need to find extra up in class but he looked well placed yesterday and managed to live up to that billing.  Just! Homebush Carra tried hard and pushed Spook all the way so look out for her in a similar class race.

Palmerston North

Rapid Fire (R4) got away to a decent start but just got slam dunked by Woman No Cry who ran the third best closing sectional of the day – better than most in the C3/4 race.  What made this a tough watch was that we were on Woman No Cry in a very average field last week and she showed little but has gone on to win her next two races at double figure odds.

Double That (R3) ran a strange race from a sectionals perspective – it was one of his best opening sectionals but one of his worst closing sectionals.  So make something of that if you can.

While Life is Good (R7) never really threatened a win, the TOP3 money for third was close to the win dividend for a number of the selections so it ended being a decent value bet.  The C5s ran no time for the opening sectional but Bigtime Brody had the fastest closing sectional on the day over the the 457m.  Electrical Storm (R8 C3) had the best time over the 457m with Thrilling Norman (R2 C1/2) having the second best time so both should go on up in class, especially Norma.
