Selections for Tuesday, 19 May racing at Palmerstom North (M3) and Addington (M9)

With harness back in action, the racing week is starting to get a lot busier.  Another 24 races today and after a good week last week, let’s see if we can make it two in a row.

A reminder that there are TAB Bonus Back offers for races 1 and 2 at Palmerston North today.

Best Bet

Palmerston North M3 R6 Big Time Seth (6)

Has the box speed and draw to get on the rails and lead and from there should be too hard to run down.  Another runner where the market is talking – opened at $2.80.

RP $2.20 currently $2.40FF

Very disappointing run to be fair.  Should have been the Warrior bet of the day!

Speed Map Special

Addington M9 R5 Run Rover Run (1)

I like Run Rover Run being drawn in box 1 and without a lot of early speed in the race, you have to think RTR has got a great chance of holding the rail.  Last start he did exactly that albeit in a C0 race and won in a time that would be competitive in C4/C5 races.  Again, we’re up against an Aussie import so there has to be some doubt but it does mean we’re getting $3.80 to win from box 1.

RP $2.50 currently $3.80FF

Right idea – the money came for the first starter from Oz and missed.  Just to rub our noses in it, the winner was top rated! Rx3 didn’t really run at all.

Sectional Special

Palmerston North M3 Woman  No Cry (7)

Drops to C2 after decent runs in C3.  More to the point, her closing sectionals have been outstanding.  While she is slow off the boxes, there’s not a lot of early speed in this and down in class should help as well.  Should get clear air from box 7 and the dog in box 8 is normally even slower out of the boxes.  Opened at $4.70 so the early money has come.

RP $3.00 currently $3.70FF

Missed the jump, ran into traffic problems.  Never a winning chance.  Go again next time.

Warriors Special

Palmerston North M3 R7 Kamada Park (2)

It’s a little unfair on the Warriors but they win when you least expect them to and lose when expected to win.  Same can be said for Kamada Park.  There was a lot of confidence around him two starts back and he just didn’t get in the race.  Drawn well and back to staying distance.  If he can jump and take an early lead, he might could well making it a Warriors double.

RP $3.00 currently $3.30FF

The omen bet – like the weekend, the Warriors had to win and Kamada Park didn’t let us down.  Nice result for the strategy too after a couple of disappointing runs from our more favoured selections.

Bonus Money Back – Palmerston North Races 1 & 2

Not a huge amount of confidence in the first two races.

In race 1,  Wifi Wilbur (1) gets his first every marble inside box 4.  He’s run an OK time at his best and there isn’t a standout bet in this race either.  The way he leaves the boxes, you have to think the inside draw will help so there’s some nice value at the $9.50 and money back to fourth.  Wouldn’t have wanted 420m but otherwise lead all the way.

Race 2, Here’s Hemi clearly rates on top but does get back from the boxes.  Go back and bashed and never in the race.

Multi Makers

Palmerston North M3 R11 Softy Burgess (7)

Outstanding win and time for the grade last week.  A similar run or more specifically start will be good enough here.  The one concern is that he has to clear the dog on his immediate inside who is a noted scouter (wide runner)

Currently $1.75FF

Yes – a ittle bit of a sweat early on but was too strong in the final 100m.

Recommended Strategy 10 Units

3 units Big Time Seth @ $3.40 No

2 units Woman No Cry @ $3.70 Never got in the race.  Put in the black book for next time.

2 units Run Rover Run @ $3.80 No Rover No

2 units Kamada Park @ $3.30 Yes – the real KP turned up today.

1 unit Wifi Wilbur @ $9.50 (money back offer) Great start to the day – paid $12 on tote too. 9.50 units returned

Another good week for the strategy with 16.1 units returned for a 10 unit outlay.  A good result in the end allowing for three disappointing runs for the top selections.
