Update Monday am

Three wins from four selections – the only disappointment was Bigtime Emjay who never looked like an each way chance.

First update – races 1 and 2 at Palmerston North with the money back offers plus bet of the day and value bet of the day.

Good punting and good luck!

Bet of the Day M3 R10 Bolty (1)

Small fish maybe but Bolty looks the best placed on the card today.

He’s a top class Canterbury sprinter who has found the relatively longer Canterbury middle distances to be a step to far.  However, he’s unbeaten at two attempts over 457m at Ascot Park.

Start The Show (2) is a little slow out of the boxes which should help Bolty.

Bolty isn’t paying a lot but the $1.75 FF makes for a nice multi booster.

In the end the $1.75 was great value.  Bolty jumped like we expect and his opening sectional was one of the best ever recorded at Palmerston North.  He ran our the 457m as you would expect a sprinter but the win was never in doubt.

Value Bet of the Day M3 R4 Bigtime Emjay (2)

Emjay is a dog who has it would seem got faster out of the boxes as he’s aged.  He was always a slow trapper to such an extent it was noteworthy the first time he lead at the end of the first section – and he won.

The speed map (and sectionals) have him mapped well forward and from box 2 he does look to get a nice trip with Spot not the fastest in box 1.

Favourite Bigtime Lizzy has a strong closing sectional but she doesn’t have a great record from box 6.

For a dog that maps as well as he does, I like the each way value about Bigtime Emjay $8.50/2.40FF.

Missed the jump and from there was never a winning chance.

M3 Race 1 – Bonus Back Offer

The scratching of the likely favourite, Allegro Will, has opened this race right up and there’s a few chances.

Zipping Luther (1) has claims although he’s not a dead set railer.  That said, he has a spare box on his outside which will help.  Downgrades as well.

Big Time Dusty (4) rates on top but the ratings show how open this is.  Not sure the squeeze box suits.

Tuff Temptress (7) maps to be on the pace.

You can make a case for the other runners too so not a race to go mad on.

I’m not overly happy with Zipping Luther in the red rug but the spare box 2 could well give him the space he needs.  He dominates the closing sectionals so if he can get a decent start he should be too good for them.

That was some race.  Yes, pre-coffee and the spare box was not in box 2 but in the middle.  Then Luther missed the start and wandered out to the middle of the track as we feared.  A little jam helped Luther significantly and the further the race went the better his chances were with his strong closing sectionals.  The punters didn’t miss either.  Nice start to the day.

M3 Race 2 – Bonus Back Offer

The second bonus back race is the opposite to the first with a clear standout – Big Time Vegas (5).

She’s twice rated 59 or better and only one dog has a career best rating of 60 or better.

While there’s always a risk with the squeeze boxes, Vegas’s best two times have come from boxes 5 and 6.

For value, Allegro Lexxi (6) has some early speed and could get a drag into the race being boxed outside the favourite. Allegro Lanie (1) is up in class but has run time from box 1.

However, it does look like it’s Vegas’s race to lose.

Yep, the house really loses and once Vegas got a clean start then you could have literally put the house on.
