Update at 3.20 PM
With the delays and time it’s taken to find my way around the new site, I’ll focus on Meeting 9. I’ve tried to find the Rugs Challenge but no luck so far. I hope it’s not something that was ditched for the initial release but have sent a question to NZRB.
Best Bet – M9 Race 1 Bigtime Panther (4)
Not the strongest runner but he does downgrade and looks to be able to get an uncontested lead which is a big help. Would have liked a bit more on the tote – currently paying $2.90FF.
Almost – got to the lead as predicted but just couldn’t quite see it out.
Lay of the Day – M9 Race 2 Cool Wolf (3)
Cool Wolf goes around as the bookies elect in the first leg of the late quaddie but I just can’t get excited. He hasn’t won over the distance in five attempts and has had just one place. He’s yet to win from box 3 as well. Even though there’s no a lot of speed in the race, it doesn’t worth in Cool Wolf’s favour – he’s likely to get crossed by the speed on his outside and that will make it difficult.
I think you would need to go wider in the quaddie – Naharis and Hurricane Al both map to lead and also top the ratings. Daring Affair is an interesting runner – and no convictions so to speak over the distance. Bigtime Joshy has the best rating for T&D.
That’s almost the perfect result for the lay of the day – the lay dog was never a chance although made ground late. To be fair, he drifted on the tote and Naharis ended up running favourite. We easily found the $283 trifecta which paid overs with Daring Affair adding some value.
Update at 1.40 PM – most likely like a lot of punters, I’m still trying to find my way around the new TAB web site while also checking our data. Most of the data is now updated but the major gap at present is the fixed odds feed which I’ve disabled on the Ratings site until we can connect to the new data source.
I’ll have a closer look at the second meeting M9 and post any selections around 3.30 once I’ve been able to see what runners are paying etc.
I’m still looking for the Rugs Challenge – the best bet at this stage without seeing the prices is box 4 although it does have two scratchings.
The best single bet of the day looks to be Bigtime Pete (2) in M3 race 9. If he jumps, the $1.90 will be good value but he’s been a little dodgy from the jump the last few starts.
