With Christmas almost upon us, it’s worth thinking about our good friends in Iceland.  In Iceland, Christmas is celebrated on Christmas Eve – so effectively you get to open your presents the day before Christmas.

So in the spirit of Iceland, we’re going to give everyone free access to the ratings on Sunday, 24 December.

I’m sure a bit of Homer Simpson philosophy will help.  If you’ve done your shopping, pat yourself on the back, sit down and watch the dogs from Cambridge and try and find a winner or two.  We’ll provide our bet of the day and the lay of the day to help you get started.

And if you haven’t done your shopping?  Well it’s too late to worry about heading out so you may as well sit down and watch the dogs from Cambridge and try and find a winner or two!

Finally, with the end of the year approaching, it’s definitely time to reflect on the past year and the year ahead.

We’d like to thank our loyal subscribers who have helped the Ratings grow significantly from what they were 8 years ago.   There’s been some major changes this year – the speed maps are continually evolving while on the dog side of things, we now provide the only sectionals on NZ greyhounds.

There’s always room for improvement – to the data, the display, the reporting and the functionality, especially the ease of use.  We have big plans for 2018 and beyond but can’t do it without the support of our subscribers, the wider industry and the Racing Board.  Particular thanks go to some key presenters on TrackSide who have both championed the ratings and provided assistance with our plans for 2018.

Last and not least, a safe Xmas to everyone and the best of wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year.
